is my latest private commission for a work on paper. This client has purchased several works from my "Curious Creatures
" series and when I got the email saying, "Do you have any Dragonfly pieces?" I knew that I'd be drawing a Dragonfly within the next few days. I painted a few Dragonflies in my "Secret Garden
" painting but no stand-alone images. The Dragonfly is a very cool insect with lots of Cultural Mythology
surrounding it from good luck to sinister but I just like the way that it looks. It's delicate body doesn't really have a lot of parts to draw so I set out to drive the image with all of the density I could get into the body and then contrast that against the delicate wings. With commissioned works on paper I always make 3 and let the client pick their favorite. Time and time again I usually don't guess which impression they will pick and I always feel good making the extra pieces.

Thanks fellas! And thank you, Michael for getting me going on these Dragonflies. We just got back after touring the Nor Cal wine country and the Dragonflies were in crazy abundance. It was nice and it has inspired me to make a few more to add to the series.

Heather and I responded with oooohs! and aaaaahs! while scrolling through the new images. The new images are awesome. You are great with variations. Each one has a totally different feeling.

These images really captured the archetypal quality that has always been associated with these mysterious beings. The dragonfly has been deemed with the power of being able to travel back and forth between the worlds of the physical and spirit. Supposedly why when we watch them they are able to transport us. I'm lucky enough to own one of these! Thank you! They are wonderful collector's items. The presentation is respectful, delicate, and beautiful, without loosing the essence of the mystery. Truly "wonder-full."
