Barometers
posted: July 16, 2009
As a professional artist it has been my experience that we are the barometers of economic health and the first in economic casualties and the first in the recovery. Is the economy picking up?,  I think that it is. I know a concrete contractor who hadn't had a call in 6 months and is now swamped pouring foundations and sidewalks. What does concrete have to do with art?, everything!.  I have had the recent good fortune to sell 3 of these works on paper this month so I made several more and you can see that I have no problem with repeating or plagiarizing myself. The economy is picking up folks so get out there and make some images.

Goldman Sachs, yes the king of post-meltdown Wall Street, following a $10b taxpayer bailout. Thank you for the comment, Harry.

I really like line work overlap in the last one, furthering the notion of them merging.

Good news to hear things are picking up for folks out there! These are wonderful prints, I can see why they are selling.
Kyle T. Webster July 17, 2009
Are they selling straight off the Drawger site (user's emailing purchase requests) or are you showing these somewhere else?
Richard Downs July 17, 2009
Zina, Thank you!, the last piece was the first time that I drew this couple position and it sold instantly so I kept copying it and they move quick. #100 sold the day after I took it into the gallery. I am going to make 20 more today after I finish some sketches. Mike, thank you! Kyle, these are sold through a "brick and mortar" tourist gallery up here. Thanks folks!-d
