This little fellow lives in the lower canopy of the Yasuní National Park. He resides in the "Zona Intangible", the untouchable zone. His tail, which is not capable of grasping, has the primary function of stabilization which I did not capture accurately in my drawing.Red Titis have an elaborate system of communication that includes vocal, visual, olfactory and tactile gestures.

Beautiful titi, Richard!
There was a titi with the sweetest eyes who lived in my aunt's patio in Colombia. He loved mangoes and a good scratch around the neck.

What a great image. There's always an element of magic in your work. Or spirituality.

All this talk of Titis is getting me a little horny but seriously Richard I'd love to see a book of flora and fauna illustrated by you. your style would be perfect for a project like that. Perhaps you're already doing it and I'm just not paying attention.
John Dykes July 29, 2009
Real nice, Richard - I think you 'grasped' the tail function right on. (I should have been a writer).
Cathleen Toelke July 29, 2009
Very handsome, with great feet! I always admire how you frame your subjects.
Kyle T Webster July 29, 2009
The vegetation as a framing device in this composition is wildly successful.

Love the textures. Especially the fur. Great piece,Richard!
Carolyn Reed Barritt July 29, 2009
I really like how you rendered the fur. It reminds me of a sweater, but still looks like fur. Just lovely.
Zina Saunders July 29, 2009
I just love this, Richard. His fur is perfection, as is his expression.
