This little fellow lives in the lower canopy of the Yasuní National Park. He resides in the "Zona Intangible", the untouchable zone. His tail, which is not capable of grasping, has the primary function of stabilization which I did not capture accurately in my drawing.Red Titis have an elaborate system of communication that includes vocal, visual, olfactory and tactile gestures. As a professional artist it has been my experience that we are the barometers of economic health and the first in economic casualties and the first in the recovery. Is the economy picking up?, I think that it is. I know a concrete contractor who hadn't had a call in 6 months and is now swamped pouring foundations and sidewalks. What does concrete have to do with art?, everything!. I have had the recent good fortune to sell 3 of these works on paper this month so I made several more and you can see that I have no problem with repeating or plagiarizing myself. The economy is picking up folks so get out there and make some images.

What is this Neil Young song really about?. Gun and authority violence, inexperience or fate?. Originally written for the southern band, Lynyrd Skynyrd it is one of my favorite lyrics so I thought that I would make a picture of it with an alternate ending.

MAX the crystal skull recently had a tour date in Nevada City. One of my friends is a day trader and he scheduled a private session with MAX along with a couple of his friends, I am sure he was looking for insider tips from MAX. My day trader buddy invited me over to see his computer systems designed to beat the market and there under his monitor was a souvenir mini MAX crystal skull. I picked it up and noticed a crack in its forehead, "They sold you a cracked MAX?" I said, "No, I threw it against the wall after I lost a bunch of money on a trade" he said.
from The Union newspaper
Legend tells us that there are 13 ancient crystal skulls in the world. At 18.2 pounds, MAX is the largest of the known authentic ancient crystal skulls. The British Museum and many other archaeological authorities consider MAX to be one of the rarest artifacts ever found. Estimated to be thousands of years old, MAX was found in Guatemala between 1924 and 1926. MAX was used by Mayan priests for healing and prayer.
Norbu Chen, a powerful healer of the Tibetan sect of Red Hat Lamas, traveled to Guatemala in the 1950s to study with these Mayan priests. The Mayans gave MAX to Chen when he left the Mayans so he could use it in his journey as a healer.
JoAnn Parks, the current custodian for MAX, met the Lama through their family medical doctor in 1973. Her 12-year-old daughter was dying of bone cancer. JoAnn's daughter Diana was given 3 months to live. The Lama and MAX worked with Diana to extend her life for 3 more years.
JoAnn later worked for Norbu for 4 1/2 years. Before the lama died, he gave the cherished crystal skull to her, saying that someday she would know what the crystal skull was all about.
After many years, the skull communicated his name to JoAnn. He also told her about his desire to assist humanity through direct experiences. Since that time, JoAnn has traveled with MAX around the world providing this experience for small groups who have gathered for this purpose.
Now MAX is coming into a more public phase in step with the Mayan prophesies around the year 2012.
Many who have touched MAX have had instantaneous healings, received information about the origins of civilization, seen visions of other worlds, heard unusual sounds and/or expanded psychic abilities.

Here is a personal piece built around a cowboy hat which needed some inspiration. I heard this Fogerty song on the radio and thought, "that's it!". I am not a huge fan of country music but this song took me back to the albums that my older brothers played when I was a kid. I have always been interested in the message in songs and in country music, the cowboy always seems saddened by a dog, a woman, a bad hand, a pickup truck or a horse. The poor fellow in this song had a mean horse throw him a long time ago. Check it out.

This was a fun cover illustration for Design Director, Mary Zisk at Stragetic Finance Magazine. This cover story showed how to create a "Culture of Security" in companies to stop data breaches. When I get started on concepts sometimes I just can't stop drawing as shown by my 50" worth of sketches below. The Royal Guard concept was too identifiable as British culture and also an archaic symbol to represent modern technology. The Cyber Ninja, too aggressive. The simple hand, just right!.
